The digital cameras have been replaced with vintage film ones. Black and white images are the preferred format. Old film developing skills are being refreshed. A home darkroom is being set up.
The analog life is not about trends, or even nostalgia. It's about the heart and the love of a slow, dynamic, hands on process.
Whether photographing a portrait session, still life, or creating statement art, film adds its own personality to whatever you do.
Each film stock sees color uniquely, especially in the black and white world. And what a world of variety. Films exist that brighten reds, darken greens, reverse those effects, and add mood through grain and contrast. Knowing your subject and how to anticipate the final image, without a digital screen is a critical skill.
Making the move back to analog processes, led to an incredible time of learning, testing, and play. As one who is a life long learner, the film life fits well for this photographer.
