Tempe, AZ has been a world of growth the last few years. 2021 found me with four large projects on my street alone. One, a hotel, is still in process directly across from my home studio. The pedestrian detour for that project, walks us through a double sided fence next to an even larger one on the next corner.
During one of my multiple daily walks to the downtown area, I wandered after dark. Now our detour after dark, is typically just that, dark. This evening however, the construction side of the fence was lit. Someone had left the lights on in the small office trailer. Add the other ambient light in the area, this sent me in a fast u-turn to grab my camera.
Since that night, I've been on the watch for other fences, backlit either by the site lights, or by the sun. The results have been fun, and are quickly providing a growing gallery. Yet, the best piece of this is the documenting of moments as the city evolves. They are a piece of each building's history, , now preserved.
While most of my work is printed on fine art, cellulose paper, I may have to get samples printed on more traditional photo paper. I easily envision these as large prints, and am excited to get some test prints soon.
